And you can do that in a foreign language? Seriously, in many countries bureaucrats can be quite vindictive if riled.
b. I keep at them until the problem’s resolved
Probably a laudable attitude, but in some countries you might be more constructively actually banging your head against a brick wall.
c. I ask around and look online in case there’s another way round the problem
This is probably the best way. Just make sure the advice you get is reliable. As the forums on this website develop I hope they’ll provide useful information about dealing with officialdom from people who’ve been there and done it.
d. Ignore them. Life’s too short
Unfortunately, this is what many Brits do and it can turn a minor annoyance into an expensive pile of trouble.
