How do you and your partner get on?
a. I don’t have a partner
Being on your own means you have nobody to disagree with, which can make life easier. On the other hand, a foreign country can be a very lonely place.
b. Great. We always agree
At first that sounds perfect. But moving is a hard decision and you really need to be sure that both of you really want to do it. If one is just going along with the idea to avoid arguments then you could well be storing up problems for the future when the going gets tough.
c. Of course we have our differences and sometimes we argue, but we always sort things out in the end
Even healthy relationships can buckle under the strain of moving to a different country. But if you can keep talking through your problems you should be okay.
d. A change of pace and place would help us sort our relationship out
Moving overseas to strengthen a rocky relationship is probably the second-worst thing you can do. (The worst is having a baby.)
